We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication and Cloud Storage) in the United States. Access is enforced by server-side security rules, not merely by what the app chooses to display. Your saved places are also kept in a database on your own device so the app works offline. No service can promise perfect security, but we design for the case where something goes wrong.
We use a small number of providers to run Nomzy. They act on our instructions and may use the data only to provide their service to us.
With your permission, Nomzy uses your location while you are using the app to show nearby restaurants and estimate walking distance. Your location is sent to our servers as part of answering that request and is used only to answer it. We do not store your location history — there is no record of where you have been. You can withdraw location permission at any time in iOS Settings; the app continues to work without it.
Two different things happen, depending on what you are doing:
We never scan your photo library. We only ever receive the specific image you choose.
Nomzy offers an optional paid subscription, Nomzy Pro. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple. We never see or receive your card details, and we cannot charge you — only Apple can. We receive confirmation of whether a subscription is active and when it expires, so the app knows what to unlock. You manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.
When you use an AI feature, your request and a shortlist of restaurants from our own catalog are sent to our AI provider to produce an answer. Please do not enter sensitive personal information into it. Nomzy's AI recommends only restaurants already in our catalog. Its answers — and the health grades, hours and menus we display — can be wrong or out of date, and are information rather than advice.
Some things are public by design: your handle and profile picture, lists you choose to make public or share by link, photos you add to a restaurant, and who you follow if you use the social features. Your saved places, notes, visits and ratings are private unless you share them.
We send push notifications only with your permission, and only about activity relevant to you — an invitation to a shared list, a vote in a group night, or activity from people you follow. You can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings or in the app.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. Deletion is thorough: it removes your profile, saved places, visits, lists, photos, taste profile, usage records, and the follow relationships pointing at you.
We maintain a single enumerated map of every place a user's data lives, together with an automated check that fails if a new one is ever added without being included — because incomplete deletion is the easiest privacy promise to break by accident. Some records may persist briefly in encrypted backups, and we may retain the minimum required for legal or tax obligations.
Nomzy is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Email admin@nomzy.io and we will respond.
Nomzy is operated from the United States, and our providers may process data there and in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, via an in-app notice. Your continued use of Nomzy after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
